E-mail Discussion Groups

The Overcoming Overeating e-mail
discussion lists provide an ongoing support group for people
who are using the Overcoming Overeating approach to cure
their compulsive eating and end body hatred and dieting. It
is a great opportunity for discussion about how to implement
these principles in our every-day lives and work towards
achieving self-acceptance. It is also a way to be plugged
into information about events and developments in the
anti-dieting movement - in particular, The Women's Campaign
to End Body Hatred and Dieting.

are about working the Overcoming Overeating approach
specifically as outlined in the books "Overcoming
Overeating" and "When Women Stop Hating Their
Bodies" by Jane Hirschmann and Carol Munter. If you have
not read one of these books (or don't plan to in the near
future) and you are not applying the approach as outlined in
the books, then these lists are not for you!

Advanced OO E-mail List
This group is for anyone who is actively
using the Overcoming Overeating non-diet tools presented in
the book "When Women Stop Hating Their Bodies"
(Hirschmann/Munter). The list member is less frequently
using food as a primary source of self-soothing, and is
ready to focus on the emotional triggers that lead to
overeating and the painful emotions and life experiences
that brought us to overeating as our coping mechanism.
Beginners are welcome to lurk or participate in the
discussions, but should remain on the primary OO list to get
support while they learn and practice the tools of
recognizing stomach hunger and mouth hunger, legalizing,
stocking up, food bags, mirror work, etc. Advanced list
members are urged to also remain on the primary OO list to
support, encourage and inspire those undertaking the
difficult task of ending their overeating.

Men's OO E-mail List
This group specifically supports men
who are working the Overcoming Overeating approach around their
food and body issues as defined in the book "Overcoming Overeating" by
Jane Hirschmann and Carol Munter. We do not discuss any other "non-diet" concepts
in this group, nor do we discuss any diet or exercise plans. We
also avoid other "non-OO" topics, such as politics and
religion.
This is a "members only" group: membership requires
identifying your first name, that you have read or are reading the
above-mentioned book and are attempting to work the principles described
therein. This is not to control or "approve" you - it
is just to keep the group focused and effective. If you are just
beginning
the OO approach you are welcome here. Men of all sexual orientations
are welcome here; this is a safe and inclusive group of men who
are sharing their OO journey on a day-by-day basis.
